Geneviève Ancel (France)
Co-Founder, Dialogues en Humanité

Geneviève is the co-founder of Dialogues en Humanité located in Lyon, France (and extended to 15 cities worldwide), and of Pacte Civique pour la France.  She is also the Project Manager for ‘change’ in Greater Lyon, and the Territorial Administrator for HC. She is a member of the following organizations and committees: The Scientific Committee for the Association 4D (dossiers and debates for sustainable development), The Rio + 20 Collective, The PIRVE = City and Environment Interdisciplinary Research Program (CNRS and Ministry of Ecology); the Board of Directors of INET and the Executive Committee of the ADECCO Foundation.

She was the Chief of Staff for the Environment Ministry of France from 1984 to 1986, the Deputy Director for the General City and Urban Community of Strasbourg from 1990 to 2001, the Founder of the Training Department for the World Federation of United Cities from 1986 to 1990 (now UCLG), and the Technical Advisor for Sustainable Development in the office of Gérard Collomb; Senator, Mayor of Lyon and President of Greater Lyon from 2001 to 2009.

Geneviève was instrumental in the launching of city networks for the fight against climate change under the presidency of EuroCities by Gérard Collomb, in the preparation of the World Summit in Johannesburg on Sustainable Development and the COP 12-15, in the preparation of RIO + 20, and in the development of local, regional, French, European and global networks for sustainable development and support for change.
